Pair of cast iron flush mount chest or box handles, measuring 2 9/16" high x 3 5/8" wide overall. The recessed cutout is 1 7/8" high x 3 1/8" wide. When mounted the handles are flush to the side of the box. Handles are restored.

Early hand wrought iron grab lock or blanket chest lock from
the early 19th century. Locks were mounted on the inside of blanket chests and
when the lid is closed the lock automatically "grabs" the top keeper
and locks the chest. The key must be used to unlock the lid.
Lock measures 5 3/4" high x 2 7/8" wide with a 4" selvedge.
Keeper mounts under the lid. Key measures 4 1/2" and is long enough to use
through a 2" thick board.
Note: It is unwise to store grab lock keys inside the
blanket chest. Once the lid is closed there is no way to open it but with
the key.

Early 19th century hand wrought iron chest lock. Locks were mounted on the inside of blanket chests or boxes and when the lid is closed the lock automatically "grabs" the top keeper and locks the chest. The key must be used to unlock the lid. Lock measures 3 1/8" high x 2 3/8" wide with a 2 1/2" selvedge. Keeper mounts under the lid. Very rare and early hand wrought iron grab lock or blanket chest lock
with multiple decorative features. Locks were mounted on the inside of blanket chests and
when the lid is closed the lock automatically "grabs" the top keeper
and locks the chest. The key must be used to unlock the lid.
Lock measures 5 1/4" high x 3" wide with a 3 1/8" selvedge.
Lock measures 2 1/2" wide across the top edge. Decorative notching and
etched lines are on the top face plate, shown in close-up below right, as well
as decorative outlines for the cover plate (center photo below). The
bottom of the lock cover also shows nicely formed decoration. Keeper mounts under the lid and the arrow drops 1 1/8". The iron key measures 4" and is long enough to use
through a 1 1/2" thick board. The original wrought mounting
rivet for the keeper is included as shown in photo.
