Three legged iron cooking pan called a posnet, early to mid 19th century, for fireplace hearth cooking standing over embers or coals.  This is a nice smaller size pot at 5 1/2" diameter across the top of the bowl with deep sides.   The handle extends 5 1/2".  Stands 4 1/4" high overall on three tapered feet.  The back foot has been burned down slightly which happened with this type of pot since they sat directly over the embers - it now measures 1 3/4" and the damage is pictured in the second photo below.  The front two feet are good and measure about 2" each.  This gives the pot a slight tilt.  This pan is in very good condition, clean with only minor surface pitting and no other damage or cracks.
