Set of four brass and wrought iron nails or spikes, probably American circa 1830-60. This type of nail is sometimes called brackets or supports and the usage is unclear - it has been speculated that they may have been used for guns, swords, canes, as mirror supports, or picture nails. The brass pineapples measure 2 7/8" - 3" high overall x 1 1/4" across approximately and have cross hatching decoration. The wrought iron spikes vary from 4 1/4" to 4 1/2". In excellent condition - not recently restored but these have been kept hand polished through the years.

Emblematic heavy cast bronze door knobs for the Knights of Columbus, circa 1900. Knobs measure 2 1/8" diameter and extend 1 3/4". Knobs are mounted on a split spindle and were manufactured by Russell & Erwin with their screwless knob mount shown in photos below. Instead of a side knob screw to keep the knob in place, the shank was mounted over the two prong mount that slipped into holes in the knob. The shank was then slipped over the entire mechanism and tightened in place. Knobs have not been restored - in original aged patina.
