Early lighting receptacle box, complete, in decorative cast iron - used when electricity was new.  With this surface mount box, the wall did not have to be cut out to mount the box and the wires were run externally along the molding or baseboard or up through the floor to reach the box rather than in the walls.  The electric item was then plugged into one of the two plugs.  Measuring 4 3/4" x 2 7/8" and projects 1" from wall.  In original finish showing age - sold "as is".  This box is in relatively good condition but receptacles need to be replaced to take the newer modern plugs.
