Heavy cast bronze trim in a pattern called Courtray accompanies these Victorian mortise lock sets, manufactured by the Reading Hardware Co., circa 1880.   Highly decorative escutcheon plates measure 7 1/4" x 2 1/2" and are in bronze with matching 2 1/4" cast bronze diameter knobs.  Decorative castings are deep and high quality - the background is textured as shown in close-ups below.  Both plates and knobs are restored with a lacquer finish.  Accompanied by original mortise lock, (shown below center) restored with plain bronze face (5 1/4" x 15/16") and each lock comes with one key.  The jamb strike is a new replacement in brass.  Locks are reversible.  Ready for installation.  Slotted mounting screws are included.

Heavy duty and excellent quality cast bronze office or vestibule mortise lock manufactured circa 1895, by Yale & Towne Co.  Featured on these locks are the eagle door knobs (2 1/4" dia.) by Yale in heavy cast bronze - close-ups below.  Textured surface bronze escutcheon plates for the exterior measures 10" high x 3 1/4" wide.  Accompanied by restored Yale mortise lock and cylinder (see cylinderlock.htm).  These locks have buttons on the faces that lock or unlock the exterior knob which is opened with the key.  Two keys are included.  The interior trim is the door knob and rosette which is always free.  The plain bronze lock face is 7 3/4" x 1 5/16" - locks are complete with original bronze strike, a Yale spindle, and a cylinder ring.  This type of lock has no deadbolt which is why it was used primarily for offices or vestibules.  The locks are not reversible and are all right hand only.  Lock has a 2 3/4" backset.  Bronze is restored and lacquered - ready for installation - screws included.  These are high quality locks.

A classroom lock, original and complete, manufactured by Sargent & Co., circa 1900, for the New York City Public Schools.  This brass trimmed lock set has original cast brass oval door knobs stating "Public School City of New York" that measure 2 1/2" high x 1 3/4" wide.  The cast brass escutcheon plates measure 7 1/2" high x 2 1/4" wide.  This lock has no dead bolt - a latch only - and the key both locks and unlocks the knobs which is why there is a keyhole only in the exterior escutcheon plate.  Once the knobs were unlocked, the door remained open until they were locked again with the key upon leaving.  A very special application specifically for a classroom.  Lock has a 2 3/4" backset.  Restored and complete - a good quality lock appropriate for many uses today.

Antique Victorian mortise lock sets with ornate cast iron escutcheon plates and matching door knobs, manufactured circa 1890.  Plates measure 6 3/8" x 1 5/8" showing some remnants of original bronze plated finish over the cast iron.  The knobs are 2 1/4" in diameter with a brass ring where the top and bottom of the knobs go together in the center.  Accompanied by a reversible restored mortise lock with plain iron face (5 1/4" x 7/8"), iron strike, and one key with each lock.  Complete and ready for installation with slotted screws.

Turn of the last century lock set with ornate wrought steel escutcheon plates and matching round knobs, manufactured circa 1910.  Escutcheon plates measure 8 1/4" x  2 1/4" and are restored to original black finish.  Decorative steel knobs measure 2 1/4" in diameter.  Accompanied by original restored mortise lock, shown below, with black face (5 5/8" x 7/8") and strike, complete with key. Trim shows some surface pitting from age and weather exposure.  Lock is reversible and complete.   Ready for installation - screws included.

Early 20th century passage latch with stenciled flowers on white porcelain knobs with brass rosettes.  Knobs are 2" diameter in excellent condition.  The wrought brass rosettes measure 3 1/2" high x 2" wide.  Accompanied by a passage latch pictured below measuring 3 5/16" deep x 1 3/4" high x 1/2".  The backset is 2 5/8".  Face is 3  7/16" x 15/16".  Restored and complete - ready to install.
