Early Victorian mechanical pull door bell, with patent date on the bell of 1872, 73, and 75.  Pull knob mounts on the door jamb exterior while the bell mounts opposite on the interior jamb and are connected by a wire which activates the bell when the knob is pulled.  Decorative cast bronze pull knob measures 1 5/8" diameter and extends 1 5/8".  Plain cast bronze mechanical gong bell is mounted on a cast iron base and measures 5" in diameter and is  5  7/16" center to center at the mount holes.  Bell rings with a hearty gong each time the knob is pulled meant to be heard throughout the house.  Complete and restored to working order.
