Authentic American door knocker, in cast brass, circa 1840, an example of early American decorative hardware.   Door knocker and the knocker button are two pieces - knocker portion measuring 5" high overall x 3 3/4" at the widest.   The knocker button measures 1 1/2" x 1 1/16".  This knocker is in the early configuration with mounting bolts through the door capped by slotted brass finish nuts on the interior.  This knocker is adjustable to a door thickness up to 2 1/4" maximum without further modification. Replacement brass finish nuts for the interior are not pictured but are included as well as the replaced iron bolts.  This knocker is in excellent condition and is restored and complete.

Authentic early door knocker, in cast brass, circa 1850, often called a Doctor's knocker because they were so very popular they were often found on many Doctor's offices/houses.   This particular knocker is in a nice smaller size than usually seen measuring 5 1/4" high overall x 1 1/8" at the widest and extends from the door 2".   The large top rosette and knocker button both measure 2" diameter.  This knocker is complete with early iron mounting bolts and finish washers which go through the door from the interior into the knocker.   Photo below left shows all components of this knocker as well as the attractive profile of the knocker itself.  Not recently restored, this knocker is in excellent condition for its age and is complete.
