Authentic American Empire period door knocker, in cast iron, circa 1820.   Well made knocker measures 8" high overall x 2 1/2" at the widest and extends from the door 1 3/8".   The draped knocker drops 5 3/4".  Knocker exhibits exceptionally fine detail in excellent condition, as well as the appropriate mount for the period shown in side view photo below right.  Restored and complete.

Antique figural Empire period door knocker, in cast iron, circa 1820, with brass name plate (3 3/4" x 1") that was never engraved as well as a round brass medallion (1" diameter.) for the house number.   Exceptional knocker measures 9" high overall x 5" at the widest.   The hinged knocker portion drops 3 3/4".  Top portion features full body sphinxes with the lady's head, lion body, and wings from the shoulders.  Knocker exhibits fine detail in excellent condition, as well as the appropriate mount for the period with original nuts shown in side view photo below right.  Restored and complete.  Will fit a door up to a maximum of  2 1/4" without modification.
