One of the only cast iron carpenter style locks made in America - manufactured by Russell Erwin & Co., circa 1850. These early locks were not reversible and had the carpenter patented mechanism that lifts up and down instead of moving in and out, hence the cutout keeper. Large exterior door size measures 4 3/8" high x 6 7/8" deep x 3/4" and is right hand only. Keeper measures an additional 1 1/4" width. Accompanied by original narrow neck 1 3/4" diameter brass door knobs with brass rosette (2" diameter) and replacement brass key escutcheon (1 7/8" x 1 3/8") with original key. Restored and complete, ready to install - comes with slotted mounting screws.
