A later rim passage latch, circa 1870, manufactured by Sargent & Co., in cast iron.  A very simple early passage latch with no privacy lock or keyed bolt.  Latch is reversible simply by turning it in the direction (handing) needed  -  measuring 3 1/2" deep x 2 1/2" high without the 7/8" keeper.  Shown as right hand above and left hand below.  The manufacturer Sargent is found on the back side as pictured below right.  The backset is 2 3/4".  Restored and complete with unusual original brown mineral door knobs that are such a dark brown they appear black.  Complete with slotted wood screws.
