Cast iron Victorian draw-back rim lock, marked H & V for Hanson & Van Winkle, Newark, NJ.  Lock body measures 4" high x 5 3/4" deep x 7/8" without the keeper and is reversible for either hand.  Keeper is 1 3/8" additional.  This type of lock uses the brass curved pull activator which "draws back" the latch to open the door from the inside.  Outside access is via the key only which will retract the dead bolt if engaged and then retract the latch on the next revolution.  Bolt is a double throw, throwing to 1/2" on first revolution and 1" on the second.  The cast iron exterior key escutcheon measures 3 3/8" x 2 1/16".  The iron tab on the bottom edge of the lock body will lock the latch retracted into the lock allowing  the lock to be in the "open" access position.  Unusual and interesting lock is complete and restored.

Cast iron Victorian draw-back rim lock, marked Sargent & Co. on the back.  Lock body measures 3 3/4" high x 5 1/2" deep x 7/8" without the keeper and is not reversible - left hand only.  Keeper is 1 1/2" additional and has a 9/16" lip extending onto the jamb with mount holes.  This type of lock uses the brass curved pull activator which "draws back" the latch to open the door from the inside.  Outside access is via the key only which will retract the dead bolt if engaged and then retract the latch on the next revolution.  Bolt is a double throw, throwing to 1/2" on first revolution and 1" on the second.  The cast iron exterior key escutcheon measures 2 1/8" x 1 1/2".  The round brass slide shown in close-up below slides up and down and will lock the latch retracted into the lock allowing  the lock to be in the "open" access position.  Unusual and interesting lock is complete and restored.
