Quantity:

Very early and rare rim passage latch with no keyed bolt, marked with the patent date of 1842.   One of  the earliest cast iron reversible latches - reversed by simply turning to face the hand you need.  The latch is beveled on all sides.  Lock is restored and complete with cast iron  rosette and original unique "1842" patent door knobs.  These original cast iron knobs do not use a side-knob screw.  The lock side knob is pinned directly onto the spindle while the off-side knob mounts into the rosette which keeps it in place when mounted (pictured below in mounted position).  Latch measures 2 1/2" x 3 3/4" x 5/8" and has a privacy toggle next to the door knob which locks the knobs to allow privacy.  All original.  Restored, complete, and ready to install.
