An very unusual interior wrought iron latch with a cover plate over the latch works, circa 1830. The cover plate is open top and bottom as shown below. This wrought iron surface mount latch features flat oval tops (1 1/2" x 1") on the levers. The exterior lever has a diamond escutcheon measuring 4" x 2 1/8". The lock body measures 6 3/4" x 3 3/4". This type of lock is not reversible and is right hand only and will fit a door up to 1 5/8" thick. Latch is in excellent condition and is restored and complete with surface mount keeper measuring 2 1/8" high x 3/4". Comes complete with slotted mounting screws.
