A "Universal" cast iron reversible rim lock in a larger size, patent date on latch is March 15, 1859.  The patented triangular latch rides along the triangular lip of the keeper shown from the side in photos bottom row below.  This latch and keeper allowed the lock to be reversed simply by turning the lock over and mounting it on whichever side of the door you wished.  Lock is reversible, restored and complete with unique brown swirl mineral knobs and cast iron trim.  This type of early adjustable screwless knob offers a long iron shank and the rosette is positioned any where on this shank to accommodate any door thickness.  A night latch is found at the top of the lock which allows you to lock the knobs for privacy without using the keyed dead bolt.  Lock measures 5" high x 3 1/2" without the keeper which is 1" additional.  Restored to a black finish, complete with key, and ready to install.  Comes with slotted mounting screws.
