Antique wrought iron surface mount covered plate latch, circa 1810.  This was another type of plate latch where the lock works were covered rather than exposed.  Latch measures 4 1/8" x 3 3/8" and is accompanied by early oval narrow neck knobs  measuring 1 1/2"x 1 1/4" in polished brass with early center nut mount. This type of lock was not reversible and is left hand only and will fit a door 1 1/4" thick without modification.  Latch is in excellent condition, restored, and complete with brass surface mount keeper hand wrought in our shop shown to the right of the lock.  Photo below right shows the keeper in a side view.  Lock offers a slide privacy latch operated by the brass finger slide lower right on the lock cover.  Photo below left shows plate latch mechanism from the back.  Restored and complete with slotted screws.

Antique wrought iron surface mount covered plate latch from the early 1800's in original condition as removed from the door it was mounted on for over 200 years and still in good working condition.  This type of plate latch was transitional and had the lock works covered rather than exposed.  Latch measures 4 1/2" x 3 5/8" x 1/2" and is accompanied by early narrow neck knobs in iron with brass shanks measuring 1 5/8"diameter. Original rosette is 1 1/8".  The brass jamb keeper measures 2 5/8" high x 7/16" wide and is a replacement as the original was left on the door jamb.  This type of lock was not reversible and is left hand only and can be modified to fit your particular door thickness.  Please provide that measurement in the Comments Section when ordering.  Lock offers a slide privacy latch operated by the brass finger slide lower left on the lock cover.  Photo below center shows plate latch mechanism from the back.  In original finish and patina of over 200 years.
