Cast iron Victorian vertical rim lock which mounts on the surface of the door, manufactured and signed Sparks (a subsidiary of Mallory & Wheeler Co.- sold by Sargent & Co. in their 1870's catalogs). Locks measure 4" x 3 3/8" and are reversible handing. The SPARKS is imprinted on the left hand side of the locks as shown below - the patent dates of Oct. 19, 1869 and Mar. 25, 1873 show on the right hand side of the locks as seen above. Keeper is 7/8" additional. Restored with original brown mineral door knobs - white porcelain knobs may be requested in the Comments Section. Accompanied by original cast iron rosette, key escutcheon, and one key. These locks are early and do not have a privacy night latch. Back set is 2 3/8". Complete with slotted screws. Same lock as above Ref. 241-922, MW & Co. - however there is a break in the case on the bottom edge under the keyhole as shown in photo below right.
