 Cast iron Victorian vertical rim lock which mounts on the surface of the door, manufactured circa 1885.  Lock measures 4 1/4" x 3 1/8" and is reversible handing.  Keeper is 7/8" additional.  This lock was made without a night latch - for privacy the keyed dead bolt was used.  Restored with original white porcelain door knobs with age marks and some crazing.  Accompanied by original cast iron rosette, iron key escutcheon, and one key.  Backset is 2 1/2".  When mounted as right hand lock, shown below right, the lock is in good condition.  When mounted as right-hand, shown above, the case shows a cosmetic casting defect from the time the lock was cast.  The casting defect is a small hole in the case seen between the door knob and the keyhole directly across from the screw hole.  It does not effect the integrity of the lock itself.  The left-hand side, shown below, is in very good condition.  Complete with slotted screws.  We will hand your lock if you provide us with the handing of your door in the Comments Section.

 Cast iron Victorian vertical rim lock which mounts on the surface of the door, manufactured circa 1885.  Lock measures
3 7/8" x 2 7/8" and is reversible handing.  Keeper is 3/4" additional.  This lock offers a night latch on the back edge of the lock which locks the door knobs for privacy rather than using the keyed dead bolt.  Restored with original white porcelain door knobs with quite distinct age marks and discolorations as shown.  Accompanied by original cast iron rosette, iron key escutcheon, and one key.  Backset is 2  3/16".  Complete with slotted screws.  Shown as right hand above and left hand below.  We will hand your lock if you provide us with the handing of your door in the Comments Section.
