Cast iron Victorian vertical rim lock which mounts on the surface of the door,
manufactured circa 1885. Lock measures
4 1/4" x 3 1/8" and is reversible handing.
Keeper is 7/8" additional. This lock was made without a night latch -
for privacy the keyed dead bolt was used. Restored with unusual mineral door knobs
in an umber shade more than brown.
Accompanied by original cast iron rosette, iron key escutcheon, and one key.
Backset is 2 1/2". When mounted as right hand lock, shown below
right, the lock is in good condition. When mounted as left-hand, shown
below left - the case shows cosmetic pitting and discoloration but is
structurally sound - giving a very primitive look. Complete with slotted screws.
