Cast iron vertical rim lock with an unusual narrow backset of 2", manufactured circa 1885. Both lock and keeper feature linear ornamentation as well as decorative corners. Lock measures 4 1/4" high x 3 1/8" without the jamb keeper which is an additional 7/8". Lock is reversible, shown as right hand above and left hand below. With such a narrow backset it has always been recommended to use either levers or a smaller knob - in this case the accompanying white porcelain knobs are smaller than normal at 1 3/4" diameter. This keeps the users fingers/hand away from the door stop when operating the lock. The night latch has been removed from this lock at an earlier time. Accompanied with original cast iron rosette, key escutcheon, and key. Ready to install - complete with screws. We will hand the lock as needed upon request - please include information in the Comments Section.
