A most unusual and rarely seen keyed rim passage latch, circa 1850.  This latch does not have a dead bolt - the key locks the latch instead, keeping the knobs from turning.  The latch body measures 3 3/4" deep x 2 1/2" high without the 1 1/8" keeper.  The edge of the latch is beveled which makes it non-reversible, left hand only.  Restored and complete with original brown swirl mineral knobs, cast iron rosette, and key.
