Cast iron Davenport Mallory & Co. vertical rim lock which mounts on the surface of the door, patent date on the right hand side of lock (shown in close-up below) is imprinted May 5, 1863 - June 7, 1864.  Manufacturer info is imprinted on the left hand side (shown above) - DM & Co. New Haven.  Lock measures 4 1/2" high x 3 1/2" without the jamb keeper which is an additional 7/8".  Lock is reversible, shown as left hand above and right hand below with original white porcelain door knobs.  These earlier rim locks from the mid-1860's do not offer any night latch - only the keyed bolt for security or privacy.  Accompanied with original cast iron rosette, key escutcheon, and one key.   Lock has a 2 5/8" backset.  Ready to install - complete with screws.  We will hand your locks as needed upon request - please include information in the Comments Section.  DM & Co. was sold to MW & Co. in 1865.  Thus the locks directly above marked MW & Co. match the DM & Co. and carry the same patent dates during the transition.
