A large entry size wrought iron English Carpenter Lock, manufactured and signed Carpenter & Co. Patentees with a signed WR keeper with brass trim. The signed keeper, WR, indicates the reigning monarch at the time of manufacture - in this case William, which places the lock between 1830 - 1837. The carpenter patented latch lifts up and down instead of moving in and out, hence the cutout keeper.  The lock body itself measures 7" x 4 3/4" x 15/16" without the keeper which mounts on the door jamb and measures 1 1/2" wide.  Lock is non-reversible, right hand only.  Offers a slide privacy bolt at the bottom of the lock operated by a brass finger slide - shown in close-up below.  Brass seal reads Carpenter & Co. Patentees with the Rampant Lion & Unicorn.  Lock is restored and complete with narrow neck brass knobs measuring 1 5/8" diameter that are adjustable on the spindle.   Brass rosette is our own new replacement.  Original oval key escutcheon measures 1 7/8" x 1 5/16".  Comes complete with original carpenter key and mounting screws.

Patentees with an unusual keeper with iron crown trim as opposed to the typical brass found on most.  The carpenter patented latch lifts up and down instead of moving in and out, hence the cutout keeper.  The lock body itself measures 6" x 4 1/2" x 3/4" without the keeper which mounts on the door jamb and measures 1 3/8" wide.  Lock is non-reversible, left hand only.  Brass seal (close-up below right) states Carpenter & Co. Patentees with the Rampant Lion & Unicorn.  Lock is restored and complete with original narrow neck brass knobs measuring 1 1/2" diameter.   Brass rosette is our own new replacement and original oval key escutcheon measures 1 3/4" x 1 1/8".  Comes complete with original carpenter key and mounting screws.

A wrought iron Carpenter style lock, circa 1845 - brass seal reads No. 60 Improved Lock, manufactured by Harper and features an eagle with spread wings shown below.  The Carpenter patented mechanism lifts up and down instead of moving in and out, hence the cutout keeper.  This lock body only measures 5" deep x 4 1/8" high x 7/8" thick without the keeper which mounts on the door jamb and measures 1 1/4" and is trimmed in brass.  Lock is right hand only and non-reversible.  Lock is restored and complete with original narrow neck brass knobs measuring 1 1/2" diameter - the exterior knob has a small flat dent in the center.  Original brass oval escutcheon measures 1 5/8" x 1 1/8".  1 1/2" brass rosette is our own replacement.   Complete with one 4 1/4" key.  Lock presently will fit a door up to 1" but can be modified for other door thicknesses upon request in the Comments Section when ordering.  Comes complete with slotted mounting screws.
