A "Universal" cast iron reversible rim lock, patent date on lock body is March 15, 1859, manufactured and signed by Branford Lock Works.  Lock is the same on both sides with a triangular latch that is rides along the triangular lip of the keeper shown from the side in photo below.  This latch and keeper allowed the lock to be reversed simply by turning the lock over and mounting it on whichever side of the door you wished.  Lock is reversible, restored and complete with brown swirl mineral knobs and cast iron trim.  A night latch is found on the back edge of the lock which allows you to lock the knobs for privacy without using the keyed dead bolt.  Lock measures 4 1/4" x 3 1/8" without the keeper which is 1" additional.  Restored, complete with key, and ready to install.  Comes with slotted mounting screws.
