Early American made cast iron vertical rim lock with beveled or molded edges, manufactured and signed by Russell & Erwin Mfg. Co. and with a Patent date on the back July 15, 1862.  These molded edge (shown in close-up below right) cast iron locks were not reversible and this is a left hand only.  Lock measures 5" high x 3 5/8" deep without the keeper which is 1" additional and mounts on the jamb.  Original mineral swirl door knobs are 2 1/4" in diameter, with cast iron rosette and key escutcheon.  Lock has brass bolts.  The brass key is an older key keyed to this lock but is not the original.  Restored and complete, ready to install.  Comes with slotted mounting screws.  Excellent quality American lock from the mid 19th Century.
