A wrought iron antique English Carpenter lock, imported into America before the 1840's. The carpenter patented latch lifts up and down instead of moving in and out, hence the cutout keeper. The lock body itself measures 6" x 4 1/2" x 7/8" without the keeper which mounts on the door jamb and measures 1 1/4" wide. The keeper is our own hand made wrought iron replacement with brass trim. This lock is non-reversible, left hand only. Brass seal on the lock states Carpenter & Co. Patentees. Lock is restored and complete with replacement narrow neck brass knobs measuring 1 1/2" diameter which are adjustable to your door thickness and come with brass rosette. Oval brass key escutcheon is original measuring 1 3/4" x 1 1/4". The iron key is a new replacement 5". The wards in this lock have been removed and while the key operates the dead bolt for privacy, we do not recommend using this lock for security purposes. Comes complete with mounting screws.
