Ornate cast iron horizontal rim locks signed BLW (Branford Lock Works, Branford, CT) with a signed patent date of July 21, 1863, on both sides.  Lock measures 4 1/2" x 3 3/8" high without the 7/8" keeper and is reversible (without opening the lock body), restored, and complete with cast iron trim key escutcheon, rosette, and keyed.  Accompanied by original white porcelain door knobs.  Both sides of the lock have the same decorative detail - right hand pictured above, left hand pictured below.  Offers a slide privacy bolt operated by the finger slide seen in the recessed center of the edge of the lock in close-up below right.  The Branford Lock Works shield logo is in the center of the lock with BLW inscribed on it.  Patent date is at the bottom of the lock across the keyhole.  Restored and complete - a well manufactured door lock from the mid 1800's.  Ready to install - comes with slotted screws.
