After buying out the D M & Co., Mallory Wheeler & Co. began manufacturing these locks, signed M W & Co., circa 1865.  Cast iron American carpenter style lock signed on both sides with the Carpenter style latch that operates up and down instead of in and out.  The cutout keeper allowed the latch to release when the knob was turned and the latch lifted.  Lock bodies are the same on each side and can be mounted for either hand - the keeper offers two cutouts which allows it to be mounted as either right hand or left hand.  Locks measure 4 3/8" x 3 3/8" without the 1" keeper.  Original brown swirl minerals knobs are 2 1/4" in diameter and trim is cast iron.  Lock is restored and complete with key, ready to install.  Comes with slotted mounting screws.
