Very large cast iron Blake style thumb latches.  This Blake style latch was manufactured by most of the major hardware manufacturers for many years. Patented in 1842 - this type of thumb latch could still be found in some form in catalogs for about 100 years. Handle measures 9" high x 2 3/8" at widest with inside grip opening of 4 3/4".   The original off-side bar sets offers 9" bars with mount ring, a 4" high staple, and surface mount keepers 2 1/2" high.  When mounted, the thumb lift shown below left protrudes through the door and rests under the bar for operation and acts as a grasp to lift the bar from that side.  These latches can work on a door maximum thickness of 2 1/4".  Restored and complete, comes with slotted mounting screws.

Rare locking Roggins thumb latches in cast iron manufactured circa 1875.  Handles measures 6 1/2" x 1 3/4" across at widest and latches have a 3 3/4" grip opening.  Each latch will all fit a door up to 1 3/8" thick and are restored, reversible, and complete, ready to install.  Parts include the handle pictured above and the latch set below with back plate, bar, staple, and the jamb keeper.  The unusual thing about these particular latches is that the bar was made with a heart shape pivot opening which allows the bar to be moved in and out when mounted.  When the bar is pulled out, the extension sitting at the top edge of the bar will butt against the staple and effectively lock the bar in place for privacy.  When the bar is moved in the extension rests beside the staple and does not interfere with operation of the lift bar.  Bar sets measure approximately 5 1/2" across x 2 1/4" high overall.  When mounted, the end of the thumb lift protrudes through the door and the vertical oval slot in the bar set to rest under the bar and operate the bar latch.  Restored and complete with slotted screws.
