Quantity:

Victorian cast iron thumb latch manufactured circa 1870 comprised of a Blake style handle and a Roggins style covered bar set.  Handle measures 6 3/4" x 1 7/8" with a 3 1/2" grip opening.  The off-side bar set is in a covered case and measures 4 1/2" x 2 7/8" and which has a toggle lock which locks the bar in place for privacy - an unusual feature.  When mounted, the end of the thumb lift protrudes through the door and the vertical slot in the case and rests under the bar to operate the bar latch and also acts as a grasp to lift the bar from the bar latch side.  The latch is reversible for either hand.  Shown in close-up below is the comma shape cut-outs that is where the toggle privacy knob mounts - when it is slid down to the left it locks the bar in place and the latch cannot be opened by the handle on the other side.  This latch will fit a door up to 1 1/2" thick maximum.  All parts are original, restored and complete with slotted mounting screws.
