Single cusp arrow thumb latch in wrought iron from the 18th Century, featuring a dominant upper cusp with no lower cusp - only a drive in mount to be clinched on the other side of the door for mounting. Thumb press is flat and notched with a nicely curved lift (shown below center) which will accommodate a door up to 1 1/2" thick. Handle measures 7 1/2" high x 2 1/4" at widest point across. Hand grasp has a 4" grip opening and is nicely worked into a round handle. The accompanying original bar set, pictured center below, has a 6" bar with a 1 1/2" high drive-in staple and a drive-in jamb keeper. Restored and complete - comes with mounting screws.

Wrought iron thumb latch in the Norfolk style, circa 1830. Handle back plate measures 7 1/4" high x 1 5/8" while the handle itself is 3 3/4". Side view of the flared swivel thumb press shows the deeply curled bar lift that will accommodate a door up to 1 3/8" thick without modification. The accompanying bar set is our own new replacement, pictured below, featuring a 6" bar - surface mount staple and keeper copied from originals of that period. Comes complete with slotted mounting screws.

Suffolk thumb latch in wrought iron circa 1750, featuring a dominant upper cusp in the Housatonic or tulip style. Excellently executed handle measures approximately 10" high overall x 2 1/8" at widest on upper cusp - handle grip is 4 1/2" inside and handle itself is well formed and rounded. Side view of flat notched thumb press below left shows early straight lift for the finger grasp on the offside. Will accommodate a door up to 1" thick without further modification. The accompanying replacement bar set, pictured below right, offers a 7 3/4" bar, 1 3/4" high drive-in staple, and a drive-in keeper. Comes complete with screws.

Wrought iron American Suffolk style thumb latch from the 19th century commonly called a "bean" latch because of the similarity of the ends of the handle to a lima bean. Thumb press is flat with a pivot lift. Handle measures 7" high x 1 3/4" at widest point across. Hand grasp has a 4" grip opening and is a flat handle. Side view of thumb below left shows straight lift typical of this type of latch that will accommodate a door up to 1 1/8" thick. The accompanying bar set, pictured below, is an original 5 3/4" bar, and our own new replacement hand wrought drive-in staple and drive-in keeper. Comes complete with screws.

Thumb press is flat with a straight pivot lift (shown below left) which will accommodate a door up to 1 3/8" thick. Handle measures 9" high x 2 1/2" at widest point across. Hand grasp has a 4 1/4" grip opening and is nicely worked into a nice wide flat handle measuring 1" wide. The accompanying original bar set, pictured center below, has a 6" bar with a 1 1/2" high drive-in staple and a drive-in jamb keeper. Restored and complete - comes with mounting screws.

Suffolk "bean" style thumb latch in wrought iron from the 19th century, call a bean because of it's lima bean shaped cusps. Thumb press is flat below the cusp and has the typical straight pivot type finger grasp of the period - this latch will accommodate a door up to 1 1/8" thick but can be modified upon request for a thicker door. Handle measures 7 5/8" high x 2 3/8" wide cusps. Hand grasp has a 4" grip opening and is worked into flat handle 7/8" wide. Accompanied by original wrought iron bar set, pictured below, with a 6" bar, a 1 7/8" high drive-in staple, and drive-in keeper. Comes complete with screws.
