Victorian cottage thumb latches in decorative cast iron manufactured circa 1875.  Handle measures 6 3/4" high x 1 7/8" with a 3 1/2" grip opening.  The off-side latches, pictured below, are very similar but not identical and measure 4 1/4" x 2 3/4" high.  This latch will fit a door up to 1 3/8" thick and is  restored, reversible, and complete, ready to install.  Each complete latch includes the handle pictured above and a latch set below with back plate which includes the staple, the bar, and the jamb keeper.  The privacy lock is mounted above the bar in the top staple hole as shown below right in the unlocked position and can be swiveled out and downward against the bar so the latch cannot be opened by the handle on the other side - shown in the locked position bottom row below.  Restored and complete with slotted screws.

An early primitive wrought iron bar lift latch, measuring 12" overall on the lift bar.  The lift handle extends 3" from the door with a 1 1/2" diameter grasp.  The bar itself is 1/2" to 3/4" wide.  The accompanying staple is 2 3/8" high x 3" spikes.  The rat-tail keeper is 3 1/4" high x 3" deep spike.  This set mounts and is operational from one side of a door only, which means it was used on a door where interior access was not a concern.  This latch is very weather pitted and worn with years of much use but has much early character.
