    18th Century wrought iron spring gate latch for a wooden gate.  Latch mounts on the edge of the gate and the nicely arched handle has a grasp for each side of the gate to operate.   Latch measures 18 1/2” high overall x 4” at widest.  Top grasp has a 7 1/2" spread with a loop curl on each side.  The extension is 2 3/4".  Wrought iron staple  and notched keeper completes this operating gate latch.

Antique Suffolk thumb latch in wrought iron, circa 1770, featuring a dominant upper cusp and a smaller lower cusp.  Excellently executed handle measures approximately 11 1/2" high overall x 2 1/4" at widest on upper cusp as well as 2 1/4" widest at the bottom cusp - hand grasp is 5 1/4" inside and is rounded.  Side view of flat thumb press below shows the straight cusp lift to grasp on the offside that will accommodate a door up to 1 3/8" thick.  The accompanying bar set, pictured below,  is a wrought iron replacement set with a 7 3/4" bar,  1 3/4" high drive-in staple, and a drive-in keeper.  Comes complete with screws.

  Very early Suffolk style thumb latch in wrought iron, circa 1780.  Thumb press is an early flat notched straight lift (shown below left) which will accommodate a door up to 1" thick. Handle measures 10 1/4" high x 2 5/8" at widest point across.  Hand grasp has a 5 1/4" grip opening and is nicely worked into a rounded handle rather than the more typical flat style.  The accompanying original bar set, pictured bottom row below,  has a 8" bar with a 2" high drive-in staple and a drive-in jamb keeper.  Restored and complete - comes with mounting screws.

  Early Suffolk style thumb latch in wrought iron, circa 1780.   Thumb press is a flat, swivel  lift that is probably a replacement but was made quite a while ago, with a nicely curved lift (shown below left) which will accommodate a door up to 1 3/4" thick. Handle measures 12" high x 2 1/2" at widest point across.  Hand grasp has a 4 3/4" grip opening and is nicely worked into an unusual semi-rounded handle with the surfaces worked into flat areas.  The accompanying original bar set, pictured bottom row below,  has a 9 1/2" bar with an early folded over end, a 2 1/2" high drive-in staple and a drive-in jamb keeper.  Restored and complete - comes with mounting screws.

Victorian cottage thumb latches in decorative cast iron manufactured circa 1875.  Handle measures 7" high x 2" with a 3 3/4" grip opening.  The off-side bar latch, pictured below, measures 4 1/8" x 2 3/4" high.  This latch will fit a door up to 1 3/8" thick and is  restored, reversible, and complete, ready to install. Complete latch includes the handle pictured above and the latch set below with back plate which includes the staple, the bar, privacy lock, and the jamb keeper.  The privacy lock is mounted above the bar in the top staple hole as shown below center in the unlocked position and can be swiveled out and downward against the bar so the latch cannot be opened by the handle on the other side - shown in the locked position below right.  Restored and complete with slotted screws.

Suffolk "bean" style thumb latch in wrought iron from the 19th century, called a bean because of it's lima bean shaped cusps.  Thumb press is flat below the cusp and has a straight pivot type finger lift which will accommodate a 7/8" thick door.  Lift can be extended to fit thicker door upon request in the Comments Section when ordering.  Handle measures 8 3/8" high x 2 1/2" wide top cusp.  Hand grasp has a 4 1/4" grip opening and is worked into a wide flat handle measuring 15/16" wide.  Accompanied by a our own replacement bar set, pictured below, with a 6 1/2" bar, a 1 1/2" high drive-in staple, and drive-in keeper measuring 2 1/2" overall and extending approximately 1" when mounted.  The handle shows age related pitting on the cusps and the thumb press.  Comes complete with screws.
