A nicely executed wrought iron single upper cusp Suffolk style thumb latch, 18th century, probably French in origin, possibly used in French holdings such as Louisiana Territory.  The rounded handle is well formed with a 4" grip opening.  The thumb press is flat with a notch lift which will accommodate a door up to 1 5/8" thick without modification and has a nicely arched lift. Handle measures 9" high overall with upper cusp 5" of that x 2" at widest.  The accompanying original bar set features a 8" bar, drive-in keeper 3 1/8" overall, and staple measuring 1 7/8" high.  All parts of the bar set are original.  The set is restored and is complete. Very nice condition.
