Early American made cast iron vertical rim lock with beveled or molded edges, manufactured circa 1845 - 1850  in large size appropriate for entry doors.  These molded edge cast iron locks were not reversible and this is a right hand only.  Lock measures 6" high x 4 3/8" deep without the keeper which is 1 1/2" additional and mounts on the jamb.  Both bolts and latch are in brass.  Lock offers a slide privacy bolt operated by the protruding brass finger slide seen in the center of the lock.  Original mineral swirl door knobs are 2 1/4" in diameter, with cast iron rosette and key escutcheon.  Brass key is 4 1/2".  The door edge face of the lock is 1 3/16" wide.  Back set is 3 1/4" - spacing is 3 5/8".  Restored to a black finish, complete, and ready to install.  Comes with slotted mounting screws.  Excellent quality American lock from the mid 19th Century.
