Description

Antique rotary or twist door bell, with a patent date of the back of Aug. 1, 1893. Signed on both back and front of bell Russell & Erwin Mfg. Co. New Britain, Conn, U.S.A. Mounts directly through an exterior door with the turn handle on the outside and the bell mounted inside. Bell turn is 2 5/8" diameter - in ornate cast bronze with raised letters "TURN" - the turn end is about 1 1/2". Mechanical rotary bell has ornate cast iron base measuring 3 3/4" diameter and 5 1/4" from extended tip to tip. The 3 3/4" bell cover is brass and signed in center around the nut. Bell rings with a continuous ring as long as the handle is turned and can be heard throughout the house. Complete and restored to working order - appropriate finish for mixed metals. Adjustable to any door thickness.
