Early Victorian wrought iron coil spring pull style door bell, circa 1870's.  This type of door bell mounts directly through the door jamb with the bell mechanism inside and the bell pull outside.  The bell pull is ornate cast bronze on rectangular back plate, 4 1/4" x 1 1/2" with the flat face pull 1 7/8" diameter standing proud of the plate 1 3/4" when at rest.   A wire attached through a hole at the end of the pull spindle runs through the jamb and operates the bell when pulled out.  Included is one cast iron bell crank pictured in separate photo to change the direction of the wire as needed.  The wire from the pull is attached to the extending curled arm off the bell coil and jiggles the bell causing it to ring when the knob is pulled outside.  The bell is brass, 2 1/2" high with a 1" wide wrought iron flat coil spring measuring about 4 3/4" high on the loop x 4 3/4" across the coil.  Mounted on a cast brass back plate 6 5/8" high x 1 1/4" wide.  Bell has a nice loud ringing tone, easily heard  - shows some surface age as bell is in original patina and good condition.  The ornate bronze pull has been cleaned and the coiled spring on the spindle replaced.
