Suffolk style wrought iron thumb latch in a very large size  - a statement latch for an important door, circa 1820.  Thumb press is curved and pinned in place with a slightly curving thumb lift.  Lift will accommodate a door up to 2" thick without modification but can be lengthened upon request in the Comments Section.  Handle measures 13 1/4" high x 3" across the top cusp and 2 3/4" across widest at bottom cups.  Hand grasp has a 6 1/4" grip opening and is 7/8" wide on the front.  Operating bar set features a 9 3/4" bar, a 2 3/8" drive-in staple with s 3/4" extension on drive-ins, and a 4 3/8" overall drive-in keeper.  Restored to black finish and complete with slotted screws for mounting.  Latch has even surface pitting from age and weathering - not unattractive and with good character.
