Matching pair of vertical pull handle style Victorian cupboard latches, manufactured circa 1885, in ornate cast iron.   This type of latch was used on any cupboard door with a shelf behind it, such as jelly cupboards or pie safes.  The handle pulls out from the bottom and releases the hooked arm which catches on the keeper which mounts on the underside of the shelf.  Back plate measures 3  5/8" x 7/8" with the handle 2 1/4" high with a 1 9/16" finger opening.  Catch arm extends 1 1/2" to catch.  Restored, good condition, no damage, and complete with under shelf catches in brass . Purchase is for two matching early cast iron vertical cupboard latches as pictured.
