Your Price: $90.00
Part Number: 445-253
Availability: In Stock.
Early Victorian cupboard latches in decorative cast iron with porcelain knobs, circa 1860's with brass rivets that attach the knob to the bar .   These latches were patented by E. Doen, were known as Doen's Patent, and offered by Russell & Erwin Mfg. Co. in their 1865 catalog.   Latches are surface mount and have a lift bar operated by hand via the knob - these early latches were made without springs.   The bar lowers into the notch on the jamb keeper - pictured from the side in photo.  Latch bodies measure 1 7/8" high x 2" and the knobs are 3/4" diameter.  Both have original keepers mounted in place.  Knobs are secure but lose on the rivet and turn around. One knob has some damage at the base as pictured.  The other knob has a flea bite chip on one side of top.  The cast iron is good with no damage.  Purchase is for two early cast iron cupboard latches as is.  Will be shipped mounted as pictured.
