Antique Victorian ornate mechanical gong door bell with several patent dates from 1872 to 1876 on the back of the bell.  Assembly mounts directly through an exterior door with the "T" handle on the outside and the bell mounted on the interior side of the door.  The operating stem from the handle (side view below) mounts through the door into the bell to trip the bell and ring.  Cast bronze decorative "T" style lever handle measures 5" high x 2 3/4" at widest - "T" pull is  about 2 1/4" high  and 2 1/4" across the top of the "T".  Decorative cast bronze mechanical bell measures 5" in diameter and extends 2" from door and is 6" tip to tip across at mount holes.  Bell rings with hearty gong that can be heard throughout the house each time the handle is pulled.  Complete and restored to working order, bell is adjustable to most door thickness - operating lever has a 2 1/2" extension.  At the time, bells and handles were sold separately and customer's chose each individually.  Comes with slotted screws.
