Description

Antique open work wrought iron surface mount plate latch, circa 1800, in an unusually large size. Latch measures 4 7/8"high x 4 7/8" deep and is accompanied by a later replacement pair of Colonial Revival stirrups in brass measuring 3" across with a 2 1/2" drop and our own brass replacement rosette. Latch is circa 1800 while stirrups are circa 1900. This type of lock is not reversible and is right hand only. A slide privacy bolt is featured below the latch and operated by using the small brass knob - providing privacy or security. Stirrups are currently spaced for a 2" door. Latch is in very good working condition but shows over all surface pitting from age and environment. We have completed the latch with a surface mount keeper hand-made in our workshop to fit this latch . Complete with slotted screws.
